Girlfriend caused a stir owing to an onscreen lesbian relationship between her character and the one played by Isha Koppikar. Her movies Raakh, Deha and Fight Club – Members Only were average. Her releases in 2007 came and went without any impact like Red: The Dark Side, Speed and Godfather. She also shook a leg in a song in Heyy Baby and then again in Om Shanti Om. Her biggest hit in 2008 was Golmaal Returns, in which she played Esha, Ajay Devgan’s sister and Arshad Warsi’s fiancée. She was also seen in Hello, which was an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s One Night at a Call Center, Heroes and Kambakth Ishq.

Amrita Rao’s birthday is on the 7th of June. She was born in 1981 in Mumbai. Her father is Deepak Rao who runs an advertising agency. Her mother tongue is Konkani.

She was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. Her films , Vaah! Life Ho Tho Aisi and Shikhar didn’t get a good reception at the box office. Vivah , with Shahid Kapoor, became one of the biggest commercial successes of the year. Bollywood didn’t see a lot of Amrita Rao, except for a brief appearance in a song in Heyy Babyy. She did a Telugu film Athidhi with Mahesh Babu, which was a big success down south.Her releases include My Name is Anthony Gonsalves with Mithun Chakraborthy, Lilette Dubey, and Nikhil Dwivedi which didn’t do well. Her performance as Kamala in Shyam Benegal’s comedy Welcome to Sajjanpur was praised and the film enjoyed rave reviews. she was seen opposite Harman Baweja in Victory which was not so victorious at the box office. She traded in her sweet image for a more glamorous one in Shortkut: The Con is One. However, even this movie didn’t do well.

The other English film, The Last Legion, did not do so well.Jodhaa Akbar, released in 2008, in which she acted the part of Jodhaa Bai with Hrithik Roshan was average. The sequel to Sarkar, Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj, in which she plays a CEO alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, is said to be one of her best
performances till date.
